ABOUT US
Vision Statement
To be a divine channel of healing and hope, where every life is cared for with faith, compassion, and love, inspired by the words of Jesus: “I was sick, and you visited me” (Matthew 25:36)
Mission Statement
Our mission, guided by faith and love for humanity, is to provide free maternal care, preventive health services, and 90% subsidized treatments to ensure that no one is denied healthcare due to cost.
Our Story
Access to quality healthcare remains a major challenge in many rural communities, where families often struggle to afford private medical services. Local hospitals are frequently under-equipped and understaffed, leaving residents to depend on untrained chemists or self-medication. As a result, minor illnesses often develop into severe conditions, and expectant mothers face dangerous pregnancies under the care of unqualified midwives.

During his years of pastoral service in the United States, Fr. Theo Okpara witnessed how critical healthcare access is to the well-being of individuals and families. That experience inspired him to extend similar compassion and support to his home community in Nigeria. In January 2023, he completed and equipped a 10-bed Primary Health Care Clinic, named the St. Thomas Primary Health Care Clinic, to serve the indigent and underserved populations in Umuchima, Ideato South Local Government Area and beyond.
Since its establishment, St. Thomas Primary Health Care Clinic has operated daily with two resident nurses who provide essential medical care to patients of all ages. Every January, we organize an annual free medical outreach, bringing together doctors, nurses, and laboratory technicians. Hundreds of patients receive free consultations, diagnostic testing, treatment, and medications during these outreaches. For many families, the clinic has become a place of hope, healing, and dignity.

Recognizing the growing number of patients and the need for sustainable support, we established the Fr. Theo Okpara Primary Health Care Foundation, Inc. in December 2023 as a nonprofit corporation in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In 2024, the Foundation received 501(c)(3) status in the United States, enabling us to build partnerships and attract funding to sustain and expand our healthcare mission.

Guided by the words of Jesus, “I was sick, and you visited me” (Matthew 25:36) — we remain committed to extending compassionate, accessible, and affordable healthcare to the most vulnerable members of society. Through this mission, we strive to build healthier, stronger communities, one patient at a time.
